Learning to Teach Fund is a $15 million fund spanning 2013-2016, focused on investing in programs and tools to support the preparation of novice teachers beginning their teaching careers (pre-service teacher training through year two in the classroom).
Organizations we seek to support will be grounded in a set of core principles:
· Practice-Based Curriculum – Teacher training should be closely connected to practice inside the classroom
· Performance Orientation – Teacher training organizations should be held accountable for the effectiveness of the teachers they train
· Rigorous Selection Model – Teacher training should employ rigorous selection processes for assessing candidates and their ability to select for attributes linked to success as a teacher of record
· Reinforcing Support – Teacher training provides classroom-based mentorship and school-level support through a teachers’ second year as a teacher of record
